When creating Composite Montages, you must open two images (or more) using Photoshop.
1- open up the two images you want to combine. Images should be the same size.
2- drag one image over the other, and the two layers will show up in the layers column to the right of your screen. You wont see the merging of the two images until you go to the layers column and click on "Multiply".
3-You can then flatten the combine images by going to the top bar, under Layer, and drop down to "Flatten Image". You may want to adjust the brightness of one or both of the images before flattening your composite montage.
When creating Mirror Montages, you must make a duplicate of an image you wish to mirror.
1- Open up the image you want to mirror in Photoshop. At the top bar, under "Image" drop down and click on "Duplicate". You should have two identical photos on your desktop.
2-You then want to rotate on of those images to obtain a mirror effect. Choose one of the images, and in "Image" from the top bar, drop down to "Rotate Canvas". Choose which way you want to flip, or rotate your image (Flip Canvas Horizontal is very effective most of the times).
3-Drag on image onto the other, and once you do so, both layers should be visible in the "Layers" column to the right. In the "Layers' column, under "Normal", drop down and click "Multiply", and enjoy your mirror montage. Because the two images are identical, the overall brightness can be adjusted once you've flattened your image, before saving it.
How to create Dreamscapes (Ortons) using one image in Photoshop.
1-Select an image you want to Dreamscape and open it in Photoshop.
2-In "Images" at the top bar, drop down and produce a "Duplicate" of your image.
3-You will need to brighten one of the images, and you can do so under "Image", drop down to "Adjustments" then using "Levels" you will brighten your first image. You want that image to look like a slide that's been over exposed about two stops.
4-Now you can proceed and, using the second image, you will go to "Filter" (top bar),
drop down to "Blur", then, "Gausian Blur", and De-Focus the image (make it blurry). by about twenty percent.
5-Drag one image over the other (once you do this, you should see both layers in the Layers column at the right of the Desktop in Photoshop).
6-In layers, under "Normal", go to "Multiply", and this step should combine the two images.
Make the appropriate adjustments (brighten if needed) before flattening the Dreamscape,
and saving it.
